Who’s Dr Friday?
A researcher, investigator and lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Psychology.
Ross’s journey toward working extensively in criminology and forensic psychology probably began in his childhood as his father served for two decades within Her Majesty’s Prison Service, and so even from a young age it was always made clear that very few crimes are simple, and there is nearly always an alternative point of view.
Indeed, by the time he reached adulthood, Ross was in no doubt regarding the importance of forensic investigation techniques used by the police, and became as interested in how to prevent miscarriages of justice as he was in helping to solve complex cases.
It was perhaps inevitable that Ross would study psychology at university, during which time he was fortunate to be taught subjects such as criminal profiling by award-winning researcher Professor David Luke, as well as eyewitness testimony, DNA evidence analysis and witness misidentification by Dr Josh Davis who is well-known for his work on the London Riots and his Innocence Project investigation into the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
Ross subsequently graduated with a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Greenwich, where he continued to study for a doctorate. His PhD focused on the detection of covert surveillance, and incorporated both laboratory and field-based experiments with a view to contributing to undercover police work and anti-terrorism agencies.
During his ten years of study, Ross’s work has attracted various awards and funding which led to a position lecturing in criminology and forensic psychology, as well as being invited to give talks at numerous conferences both in the UK and abroad.
